We caught this picture of Bob at the 1999 ITG conference in Richmond, VA., while he was testing some Lawler trumpets. He gave the world premiere performance of the winning composition from the 1999 ITG Composition Contest, Three Portraits for Trumpet, Mezzo & Soprano, by Francisco Zacares Fort. He has been an outstanding representative for Warburton Mouthpieces for the past 15 years. Recently, Terry Warburton honored him by designing a Birch signature model mouthpiece. This is available in the new one-piece symphonic blank, which is a bit heavier than standard, and in the standard Warburton two piece component format. Bob has had much success over the years with the 2MD top paired with a 7* backbore. The Birch model is a close cousin to this set-up, but with a slightly more pronounced inner bite, and more girth in the bottom of the cup. Bob Birch
